Server Outage

Updated server and changed Ping Rates to 90 or less. We will trial this for a few weeks and if the other players are happy will keep it that way. Many times we have international guests who have a 150 ping and it just drops us into lagland.
Hopefully this will give us some smoother playing.

It is possible, but not necessary. You wouldn't see any benefit to it. Besides I am going to lower the slot on No AWP to 24 from 32.
The extra 8 slots are not really being used, and when I was on last when we had more than 25 users, the server lagged with those with 130+ ping.
I remember when I had to wait to get into No Awp and I think 24 slots are enough. I will drop the server slot in August.
With what we have left I would want a load out server so we can play practically anything we want to.
Like a zombie mod server, L4D, or maybe something completely different.

- *Can the server handle it?
*Will most users actually get 100fps when the server i full? as i highly doubt it!

Lovely ideas but it is all moot.
You cannot play CSS Orange Box on a 100 tick server. Steam in their wisdom have governed the tick to 66 in their update. They wanted a level playing field to bench the engine. I have seen reports of servers achieving 100 tick rates, but nothing conclusive enough to warrant a risk that could just balls up the server.
Thus my comment that you would not see a difference. Besides higher tick rate means more bandwidth, which I counter with lower ping access and reduced slots. I played on the server tonight and it was MUCH faster then in recent weeks.
Soon it will be what NO AWP should always be.
Fast and fun!

Cool
Yeah drop me an email at kpikid@aol.com
I am recovering from recent surgery, so I will be offline until I mend, but please either post your ideas or email me and I will try to answer.
As for the response from DF. Yeah 100 tick would be ace, but not possible currently.
Maybe when I get the other server we could make that 100 tick. By then a solution would be available to make the OB version workable.
Keep the ideas coming in.
Thanks

If I remember correctly before all this steam updates which causing the server to be an incorrect version the amount of players on the no awp was nearly full (28+) wasn't it? (6pm-11pm)
Is there another reason behind removing the 8 extra slots? As you've pointed out '130+ ping' - Isn't this solved by enforcing the 90 ping limit?
If you're intending to cut the slots down to 24, I suggest you reserve 1-2 slots for people with admin permission. The server will no doubt be full and if a cheater is on the server they won’t be able to join straight away..
Also not sure if the reg on the server is better since the update but is changing providers or server (not sure the procedure) help improving the reg? I remember people suggesting this, but TTK didn't want to lose its players/popularity of the server so it never happened.

Hi,
No I did not know as I was in hospital having surgery. Nothing can be helped by it and the other server admin doesn't come online as much to reboot the server. When I got home three days later I noticed nobody was on and rebooted the server. If it is a client issue, I just upgraded the server to the lastest OB release, so you guys need to delete CSS reboot, and reinstall from steam and it just fixes a bunch of issues, especially if you have any mods that could trigger a ban. Remember uploads have stopped so sprays and hacks should be reduced. But that is another moving playing field.
With regards to slot reservations I can manage the server and remove people at will remotely. I am thinking of keeping an extra slot (25) with a script-bot in place to observe what is going on. If I start reserving slots it will prevent peeps waiting in line and that just sucks. I might look at time limits in game so a player cannot sit in spec forever or stay online in game for several hours. I will look into keeping the server clean, but until I can get event scripting working, and catch upon my python skills, things will be pretty much as they are.
FBG is dead as far as I am concerned. They had a great run, but FBG hasn't picked up on any resource generating models and is suffering for it. Again I suggested a subscription but its fallen on deaf ears. So after a member suggested HLstatsX I'm going to upgrade the server with that and try to get back some ground that Steam has taken.
If anyone else thinks of an idea they would like to see in game (no 100tick) I am all ears. I do want to see TGG members with stat listing online, which I am sure bragging rights will ensue. I can look at my crap regs to get me in the server and do better.
Also HLstatsX works with TF2 and the original CS. I think vanilla CS totally rocks!
Anyways thanks for the update, and I will be online checking things out.

necessary updates and maintenance.
I know this is unplanned so sorry for any inconvenience.
Found some more after the update so the server will be offline until 22:00 GMT.
Sorry about that guys.

Update:
Server updated with Steam Patch 50.
You should be able to get online as of 19th July.
Thanks to all who contacted me.
Lol I updated the server (I'm currently on an ancient laptop in bed) and thought all was well.....
.....Well....unfortunately the server has caught the bug that has been going around and died.
We are in the process of reanimating the server, so sorry for the outage.
I think we can blame Steam on this one, this time.
